More frequent and severe climate-related disasters are placing growing pressures on governments and communities. This panel focuses on the politics and governance of disaster management before, during and after extreme events. Contributions may examine disaster preparedness, early-warning systems, emergency responses, humanitarian assistance, post-disaster recovery, resilience and institutional coordination. Particular attention may also be given to inequalities in disaster impacts, relations between national and local authorities, the role of international assistance and the ways in which repeated disasters transform political institutions and public expectations.
